This document is about the rules and standards for our content & media work. It tells our storytellers , editors, video & multimedia makers how to behave when they do their work. We want to be very good and contemporary at what we do.
People are checking if the media stuff is human, honest and reliable. Our editorial team must be very honest in their work. We want people to trust us. We make money from people who trust us.
We expect high standards and fine sesibility from people who want empowerment , entertainment, and everyday stuff and once in a lifetime and you only live once choices.. We should also expect the same from ourselves. Even when we create hard stories, we must always do our best.
Editorial Mission
Our goal is to empower and entertain originally & honestly. We do this by being good storytellers. We write and create media for people who want to know what’s real, not fake or made-up stuff.
Each 69 websites address different people, but they all want to build trust with their members. We tell people what we know and share what we have and discuss why it’s important. We’re also open about how we got the stuff you should care about.
We want to help our members to live their life to the fullest by understanding the world. We want to share facts, challenge things that aren’t true, and make people think to make their choice. But most importantly, we want to be real, human, honest, clear, and smart. We also want to treat the people we talk about fairly and kindly. We treat products and services by their ability to improve the human condition.
Our Voice
We have a creative, passionate and playful voice. We don’t use clichés, don’t like conformism and we challenge lies and propaganda. We’re independent and curious. We also like to be funny and smart. We believe the world is better when we listen to different opinions and options. We give a voice to people and their enterprises who aren’t usually heard/seen.
Our Impact
We make a difference by telling the truth about our daily lives creatively and clearly. We tell stories others can’t or won’t. We want people to trust us, so we need to be real, human, honest and consistent.
Our Focus
Our members are the most important. We want to make them happy and interested in our work. We also want them to share their ideas with us. We focus on our community members and try new ways to make them happy.
Our Audiences
We want to be leaders in our fields and help our community. We’ll be honest with them and show them our point of view. We want to do great work for our audience.
We believe there’s always a need for good content with a perspective and character and a big audience to share it with.
The following sections are about different parts of our work.
Accuracy, Updating, and Mistakes
We must always be correct in what we say and write. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small fact or a big story. Everyone who works on a story must make sure it’s accurate. We need to check the information before we tell people. Even if we’re in a hurry, we can’t be wrong. If we make a mistake, we need to fix it and tell people we did. We follow the Style Guide for how to do that.
Conflicts of Interest
We can’t accept gifts, money, or special treatment from people or groups we write about. We need to be honest and not let anyone influence our work.
Fairness
We want to show the truth in our stories. We need to tell the whole story and not hide important information. When we say someone did something wrong, we should let them tell their side of the story. We respect people’s privacy unless there’s a very good reason to investigate.
Independent Contractors/Freelancers
People who work with us but aren’t employees must follow our rules too. They need to be good content professionals like us.
Language and Tone
We write in a friendly and interactive way and use the language of our audience. Our words should be clear and powerful. We should be careful with rude words. We do not use discriminatory language or anti-modern sensibilities in our writing.
Legal Matters
If we think our work might cause legal problems, we need to talk to our legal team. This includes not only saying bad things about people but also using pictures, videos, or music we don’t have the right to use.
Outside Work
We can do other work like writing books or giving talks, but it can’t get in the way of our job. We need permission from our management to do outside work. Any work we do that represents 69Mutual Media must be approved by our Editor-in-chief.
Plagiarism and Making Things Up
We can’t steal other people’s work, generative AI junk or lie in our stories. If we use someone else’s work, we have to say where it came from. We can’t pretend something is real when it’s not, except if it’s clearly a joke.
Use of Generative AI Tools in Work
We follow an AI usage policy for our editorial team and ensure strict practice of it.
Reporting on Ourselves
We usually don’t write about our own company, but if it’s necessary, we need permission from our editor-in -chief. What we write will be seen as our company’s position. We should be careful and follow the advice of our legal team.
Social Media
We follow the same rules on social media as in our stories. You can find more details in the 69Mutual Media Employee Handbook.
Sourcing
We don’t pay for interviews or promise to write good things in exchange for information. We shouldn’t give our questions to the people we interview, and we shouldn’t let them approve what we write. We should have at least two sources for important stories.
Transparency
We decide what to talk about and how to do it. Advertisers can’t control us. If we have a business relationship that might affect our stories, we’ll tell our members. We won’t hide things or ask easy questions because of our relationships.
If we make a mistake, we’ll correct it. We believe all our staff want to do good work, and they will use their best judgement. But if someone breaks these rules on purpose, they might get in trouble, following our company’s rules.
