Did you ‘hear’ J-pop playing there?
Yoasobi is big name in Japan. Coming from the rich and popular Manga anime tradition, they made a breakthrough on the global stage with their song アイドル (Idol) in 2023. Among the ocean of various J-pop artists, Yoasobi a phenomenal duo that the world loves now! Consisting of Ayase and Ikura, YOASOBI became a formidable J-POP music tandem and with ‘Idol’ with the stories embedded within their crafts.
The idol song is from Ai’s point of view- to herself, Ai the idol. She acknowledges the fact that she has a talent both for capturing hearts as well as telling lies- but thinks she doesn’t know what love truly means. Towards the end though, while the ‘lie’ of ‘I love you’ to her fans is a genuine form of love, when she was able to say it to her children Ai finally knew she had found her truth.
